Ghana Eco-tour

This tour is designed to  give you the ultimate African experience that no country on the continent is safe or open and friendly enough to maximize this experience. During this tour you will have the opportunity to lodge with a typical Ghanaian family that will introduce you to the Ghanaian Culture and hospitality.

Day 1: Arrival
Upon arrival at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra, you will be picked up by our representative for a short drive to your hotel. Depending on the time of day, he/she will go through your itinerary with you, otherwise this will be scheduled first thing in the morning on the following day. Overnight in Accra.


Day 2: From Accra to Akosombo
Early this morning we will depart from Accra after breakfast and head for Akosombo stopping on the way at the Shai Hills Forest Reserve. We will be hoping to catch a very good glimpse of some of the impressive wildlife that makes this wildlife park so special. Some of the wildlife we will be chasing are various species of chimpanzees, antelopes and monkeys. We will continue to Akosombo where we will take a tour of the impressive hydro-electric dam and maybe make a short boat ride on Lake Volta. Lake Volta is one of the largest man-made lakes in this world covering an area of 860 000 hectare and a length of 450 km. with the banks totalling a length of 5100 km. Overnight in Akosombo with a local trusted family.


Day 3: To the Volta Region
You will leave early in the morning after breakfast for Ho-hoe stopping briefly at the Krobo Mountain Community Reserve. This is a traditional spiritual asylum for the local Krobo people who came here seeking natural spiritual protection from the Ashanti slaveraids. You arrive early in the afternoon and get acquinted with the family you will temporarily be lodging with. Overnight in Ho-hoe.


Day 4: The Wli Falls
You will be picked up early in the morning to continue to the impressive Wli Waterfalls. This natural spectacular waterfall is the biggest in the West African Region. This trip is an adventure in itself, the walk through the very cool and comforting forest from the village of Wli to the waterfall, crossing the same river about ten times is pretty exhilarating. We will return to Wli for lunch and take part in local activities of the day. Overnight in Wli.


Day 5: Amedzofe
You will be travelling through some of the spectacular landscapes in this region from Wli to Amedzofe, an historic German missionary base. This village lies approximately 600 meters above sea level. It is the highest human habitation in the country and the difference in climate is remarkably felt. From the village Vume (pronounced Fume in Ghanaian) at the base of the mountain Vame we will start our ascent of 2.5 klm to Amedzofe. If prefered, this ascent can be done by foot. You will be introduced to your trusted family where you will be lodging. Overnight in Amedzofe. 

 

Dag 6: Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary
Today you will descend the mountain and visit some of the villages at the base of the mountain taking part in some of the daily activities like the local market and other cultural and traditional activities. Later in the day we will leave Amedzofe for Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary. In this village monkeys and humans live side by side. The locals have tremendous respect for these monkeys and the monkeys play an important role in the animistic believes of the traditions of the locals of Tafi Atome. Upon arrival later in the day, you will be introduced to your trusted family where you will be lodging. Overnight in Tafi Atome.


Dag 7: Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary
Today you will stay in Tafi Atome and take trips and interact with locals. Overnight in Tafi Atome.


Dag 8: Return to Accra
Transfer back to Accra and check into a day hotel to prepare for your flight back home later in the evening.
