Accra City Trip - 1 day excursion from $ 75 p.p.
This tour of Accra will take you through some of the most interesting parts of this 128-year-old city that has a blend of colonial and modern architecture. Starting in the old colonial centre in suburbs such as James Town with its old fishing harbour and Usher Town you continue to Accra’s biggest market, the Makola Market. From there on you continue to the National Museum with its excellent ethnographic collection.
Next on the schedule then are short visits to the National Cultural Centre, which is really a market with all kinds of indigenous handicrafts and to the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, burial ground for the first Ghanaian president and forerunner in the struggle for independence and the liberation of Africa. Passing the Independence Square you continue to the suburb of Teshie where you visit the carpenter's shop where richly ornamented coffins, such as in the shape of a beer bottle, are produced.
You round off the day with a visit to La Pleasure Beach, Accra’s foremost beach and pleasure ground. Our professional guide will join you to provide cultural and historic background information on this experience.
